DOT TO DOT SUCCESS FOR DHP

More than 5,500 people enjoyed some of the best new bands and DJs at this year’s Dot to Dot Festival, making it the biggest and most successful ever.

The annual one-day event, which began three years ago in Nottingham, broke all previous records for attendance by both bands and audiences, as the festival expanded to include three new locations in Nottingham as well as a whole new sister event in Bristol.

Organised and managed by live music and club operator DHP, headline acts including The Cribs, Kate Nash and New Young Pony Club attracted sell out crowds in both cities, enabling Dot to Dot to build on its reputation for making the bands of the future accessible to all.

DHP managing director, George Akins, said, “Dot to Dot is about showcasing cutting edge music and this year’s expansion allowed us to incorporate a greater diversity of music – including Grime and more acoustic acts for the first time. Despite the downpours, we had a great turnout and several bands said it was the best gig they’d ever played.

“Each year Dot to Dot gets bigger and better known and the pressure is on to keep the standards high. We’re careful to make sure that we’re always offering something different to the other festivals that are out there – and that continues to give Dot to Dot its appeal.”

Planning has already begun for Dot to Dot 2008, which is likely to include yet more venues and incorporate other forms of entertainment including comedy, film and poetry. There are plans to more than double the size of the event in Bristol, add further venues in Nottingham and launch an entirely new event in yet another city.

George added, “We’re already having discussions with additional venues and the City Council in Nottingham and we’re very excited about where the festival is heading.”
