DHP GOES BACK TO SCHOOL
DHP venue the Rescue Rooms will play host to some of rock music’s biggest stars this summer, when the ‘Highway to Hell’ Kerrang Metal Summer School visits Nottingham.
Part of a series of groundbreaking summer schools being organised by the Brighton Institute of Modern Music (BIMM), the one day event is the only one to take place outside Brighton and will be tutored by members of bands such as The Prodigy, Hundred Reasons, Ghost Of A Thousand & Sikth.
Players from across the Midlands will be given the opportunity to improve their technique and styles while rubbing shoulders with the stars. They will study and play songs in the style of Deftones, Metallica, Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance, amongst others, to learn technical development and live performance skills.
Mark Clayden, BIMM tutor, said, “We wanted to take the Metal School to somewhere that had a real history of live rock and metal music, and Nottingham stood out for us. Rock City and The Rescue Rooms are well known venues that have hosted some of the industry’s top names, so where better to show the best selling acts of tomorrow how it’s done.”
George Akins, DHP managing director, added, “When BIMM approached us about hosting a one day summer school, we were only too pleased to do all we could to help. There is so much talent in the Midlands and we’re always looking for ways to support home grown music and up and coming bands at all our venues.”
The ‘Highway to Hell’ Kerrang Metal Summer School will be at the Rescue Rooms on 18 August.
