ROCK AND ROLL INTO AUTUMN
DHP Group, the premier live music and club operator in the Midlands, has announced a star-studded autumn line up for its Nottingham and Bristol venues, mixing big, international names with up and coming acts already identified as ‘ones to watch’.
Over the next few months its renowned Rock City venue in Nottingham will play host to established bands such as the Happy Mondays, Ash, Athlete and Super Furry Animals, as well as many names currently enjoying their first time in the limelight.
Reverend and the Makers, fresh from Glastonbury, join dance floor favourite Calvin Harris and gypsy punks Gogol Bordello, whose single Wonderlust King has already been identified by Radio 1’s Zane Lowe as the ‘Hottest Record in the World Today.’ Stealth and the Rescue Rooms, recognised for their relaxed atmosphere and range of music offering, will also be welcoming popular acts including The Rumble Strips, Turin Brakes and, for the New Year’s Eve event, Mixmag’s DJ of the year, Erol Alkan. The Social and Bristol venue The Thekla will showcase the best in new music, with performances from Amy Macdonald, Young Knives and The Hoosiers, to name but a few.
DHP managing director, George Akins, said, “One of the best things about having such a wide portfolio of venues is the range of music they allow us to offer. It’s great to be able to bring names such as Just Jack, The Enemy and Ian Brown to the city, but it’s equally as nice to be able to offer people the opportunity to see a new act in an intimate venue, before they hit the ‘big time’.
“A lot of lesser known bands that have performed at the festivals this year, such as The Foals, Amp Fiddler and Pete and the Pirates are finishing their year by playing in Nottingham or Bristol, which is fantastic.”
DHP is well known for supporting up and coming bands. The annual Dot to Dot festival showcases dozens of new acts across Nottingham and Bristol and previous headliners including The Automatic and The Klaxons have gone on to become household names.
As well as hosting bands in its own venues, DHP is also heavily involved in tours across the country this autumn. Gigs by Hard Fi, Human League and Kosheen are just some of the events they are responsible for promoting.
